LEGALISATION OF DOCUMENTS

DOCUMENTS ISSUED IN LEBANON WILL ONLY BE VALID IN BRAZIL AFTER THEY ARE LEGALISED BY THE BRAZILIAN CONSULATE GENERAL IN BEIRUT AND TRANSLATED IN BRAZIL BY A SWORN TRANSLATOR.

PLEASE NOTE: THE CONSULATE GENERAL DOES NOT LEGALISE LAMINATED DOCUMENTS.

- Birth, Marriage, Divorce, Non-Impediment Certificate, Death and Prosecution/Conviction History Certificates do require prior notarisation by a Lebanese Notary Public, yet have to be legalised by both the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigrants and the Consulate General of Brazil.

- Documents bearing stamps and signatures of any Lebanese Ministry (Agriculture, Health, Justice, etc) do not require notarisation, yet have to be legalised by both the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigrants and the Consulate General of Brazil.

- Certificates of Origin and Invoices do require notarisation by a Lebanese Notary Public. Instead, they must bear the stamp and signature of a local Chamber of Commerce official, before being submitted to both the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigrants and the Consulate General of Brazil for legalisation.

- School documents do require prior legalisation by the Lebanese Education Ministry, yet have to be legalised by both the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigrants and the Consulate General of Brazil.

- Declarations in general, powers of attorney, letters of reference and some other documents must be notarised by a Lebanese Notary Public or a local Chamber of Commerce before being presented to both the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigrants and the Consulate for legalisation.

- Documents issued Overseas must first be legalised locally in country of origin (Lebanese Consulate or Embassy), then legalized by both the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigrants and the Consulate General of Brazil.

The consular fee for each signature or document is LBP £40.000 (except school documents, which are free - up to three documents per applicant).

Processing time: five (5) working days. The processing time can be shorter or longer, according to the volume of documents being handled by the sector.
